Should I Repair or Replace my HVAC Unit
It's a scary feeling when your air conditioning system, heat pump, electric heat, or gas furnace goes out. Your first thoughts are most likely, "how much is this going to cost me"!? HVAC installation can be pricey, especially if you have to replace the whole unit, indoor and outdoor, but that doesn't have to be the case.
Many times, your HVAC unit; whether a Carrier HVAC unit, Trane HVAC unit, Oxbox HVAC unit, York HVAC unit, Amana HVAC unit, Goodman HVAC unit, or Bryant HVAC unit; can be repaired thus sidestepping the full unit replacement costs.
HVAC Industry Secrets
Many less than honest HVAC companies will tell you that you HAVE to have your unit replaced, whether the indoor coils or the outdoor compressor unit, but this is most likely not the case. There are times when it would be financially beneficial to have your full unit replaced because of part pricing and the discontinuation of some units, but there is always a way.
If a company ever tells you that there is no other choice than to have a new unit installed or that your system needs to be reengineered, please get a second opinion. We have been called many times for second opinions and to get other options for repair, and all of those times we have; 1. been able to repair the unit to fully function with AC or heat, 2. quoted a lower cost for a replacement of the broken equipment.
HVAC replacement cost
An average for a full HVAC unit replacement costs about $3,500-12,000 depending on multiple factors such as the size of the current unit, how old the full system is, the features requested, and how easy your current unit is to get to, the brand name of the equipment requested or required.
As you can see, the price varies greatly, that is why it is so important to get a second opinion if you find yourself having equipment that stops working or isn't working like it should.
